Privacy Policy

Budgello ("we", "us") helps groups split expenses and plan trips. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. By using Budgello you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account details — your name, email, and a securely hashed password. You can also join a group as a guest via an invite link without an account.
Group & expense data — groups, members, expenses, amounts, categories, notes, settlements and balances you create.
Payment handles — payment identifiers you choose to add (e.g. UPI ID, PayPal.me, Venmo) so others can pay you. We never hold or move money.
Receipt images — when you scan a receipt, the image is processed to extract items and is not stored after processing.
Device tokens — if you enable push notifications, a device token to deliver them.
Usage — basic technical logs (e.g. IP address, timestamps) for security and reliability.

2. How we use it

To provide the core service: splitting, balances, settlement links, reminders.
To power AI features (receipt scanning and the trip planner) you choose to use.
To send in-app and push notifications you've enabled.
To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

3. AI processing

AI features send the relevant content (a receipt image, or your trip details and chat messages) to our AI provider, Anthropic, solely to generate the result. We don't use your data to train models.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with service providers that run Budgello: our hosting provider, Anthropic (AI), and a currency-rate service (no personal data sent). Expense and balance data is visible to members of the groups you belong to. Payments happen in your own payment apps — Budgello only generates the link and never sees your payment credentials or balances.

5. Payments & purchases

Premium purchases, if offered, are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms. We receive confirmation of your entitlement, not your payment details.

6. Security & retention

Passwords are hashed; sensitive configuration is encrypted at rest; traffic is served over HTTPS. We keep your data while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see Contact).

7. Your choices

Access, correct, or delete your data by contacting us.
Disable push notifications in your device settings.
Leave or delete groups you manage.

8. Children

Budgello isn't directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
